CBS13 Cameras Capture Police Using Stun Gun On Fan At Causeway Classic
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A CBS13 camera was rolling as a man was hit with a stun gun by police at the 60th Annual Causeway Classic.
Several police officers jumped in to break up a fight during the football game between UC Davis and Sacramento State on Saturday.
Our camera was rolling as a man in the stands at one point is confronted by an officer with a stun gun. The officer uses it on the man, who falls out of frame.
Moments later, he's back up, seemingly OK. He's arrested and led away to the back of a police car.
That commotion wasn't seen by most at the game, where the mood was far more festive.
"It's one of the best crowds we've had in a number of years," said Sac State Athletic Director Terry Wanless.
Thousands were cheering on not just their school, but the community.
"We're one university, and that's what this is all about—representing one university," said UC Davis Athletic Director Terry Toumey.
It was the last game of the season, and both school's AD's say it's a way to go out with a bang.
"It's what you work for, to give your fans a product they want to come and support," said Wanless.
UC Davis came away with a 34-7 win on Saturday.
Sacramento Police would only confirm that the man who was hit with the stun gun was arrested, but they were mum on details about what led up to the incident.
