Carjacking Victim Identified As Woodland Pastor
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Bloodied and dazed, the apparent victim of a brutal beating and robbery, but his thoughts turning right to his friend.
"What about my dog?" William Gunter asked paramedics treating him.
Tonight the 65-year-old man has been identified by his wife as a Woodland pastor. He is a dedicated leader of the Woodland Church of God of Prophecy.
According to his wife Loretta, her husband reported walking his dog Dusty along the Yolo Causeway, as he often does, when he saw the suspect standing next to a tractor. She says the man told Gunter that he was waiting for someone to open a yellow gate, but when he turned he was hit by an unknown object and knocked out. The suspect grabbed Gunter's keys, stole his truck, which was found 12 miles away in North Sacramento.
Gunter apparently is no stranger to crime. He was interviewed in a previous CBS13 report on a drive by shooting, just down the road from his Woodland home.
Friday, violent crime got much closer.
His wife told CBS13 that he's suffering multiple gashes. His false were teeth shattered. Yet, she says with prayer the pastor will soon be back in church.
