Canada's House Of Commons Discusses Preparation For A Zombie Invasion
Quebec, Canada (CBS SACRAMENTO) -- Discussion of a possible zombie invasion took over Canada's House of Commons on Wednesday.
During a tongue-and-cheek exchange, parliament member Pat Martin made the suggestion that Canada needs to be prepared for a possible invasion of zombies.
"I rise today to salute the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta and the Province of Quebec for putting in place emergency measures for dealing with the possibility of an invasion of zombies," said Martin.
"Now, I don't need to tell you, Mister Speaker, that zombies don't recognize borders and that a zombie invasion in the United States could easily turn into a continent-wide pandemic if it's not contained. So, on behalf of concerned Canadians everywhere, Mister Speaker, I want to ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs, is he working with his American counterparts to develop an international zombie strategy so that a zombie invasion does not turn into a zombie apocalypse?"
Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird responded to the Commons that, "Canada will never be a safe haven for zombies."
"I want to assure this member and all Canadians that I am dead-icated to ensuring that this never happens," Baird said.
The exchange was in response to Quebec's public security department, which stated that the Canadian province will be subjected to a hypothetical zombie attack as a preparation drill for a civil security symposium next week.
The National Post reports that similar exercises have been performed by the U.S. government in the past.
