Call Kurtis: Wedding Warning

Choosing a wedding photographer can add to the stress of planning the big day. But for one couple in Benicia the stress came after they tied the knot.

Doug and Heather Fugere chose their photographer after a friend recommended them. But the moments they've endured since their wedding have been anything but precious.

"What made me really happy was the moment that I came down the isle," recalls Heather of her wedding day, "and I saw him starting to cry."

"Oh that's not true," denies Heather's husband Doug, as many husbands would. Awe, come on Doug, it's ok.

It was your wedding day and it made your blushing bride all warm and fuzzy inside. Unfortunately, you don't say the same thing about your photographer, Deanne Pao-Gliedt of Precious Moments Photography in Brentwood, in the bay area.

She also goes by Photography by Deanne. We know you two were very happy with the photos themselves, with nearly every precious moment captured. But you paid $750 for a wedding album and you ordered it, how long ago?

"Two years," says Heather.

Two years and they still haven't gotten it.

"She always it's any day now."

Heather has tried for two years to persuade Pao-Gliedt to finish and deliver the order – calls, emails, and messages through Facebook. The by-now-not-so-newlyweds have been patient when Pao-Gliedt has handed them one delay after another.

"She definitely used every excuse in the book," says Doug. "60 or 70 excuses or, I don't know, a lot of them."

They both proceed to recite some of the reasons for the delay Pao-Gliedt states in her emails:

"I found out my lab I was using for the last 11 years went belly up."

"I don't have the cash to refund the album as I had to pay for it."

"The holidays, her son's birthday."

"I have the swine flu for two weeks now."

"And I asked for my money back and she's like 'no, I want you to have your album'" says Heather.

Pao-Gliedt apparently grew tired of Heather's inquires -- no more Facebook wall messages.

"Because she's blocked me from that," says Heather.

We told them we'd try to get through to Deanne at her Precious Moments studio and scrapbook store in Brentwood.

But her store was empty.

We tracked down her home. The place was empty, not a good sign. Her phone number didn't work so we sent her a message through Facebook, and she replied, once.

Her message literally read: "hi, this is deanne, how can i help you? i ssomething wrong? your email sounds so urgent?"

Yes, it was, but she never replied back, unwilling to explain why she took Heather and Doug's money but never gave them their $750 wedding album in return.

Heather and Doug wanted us to run their story regardless of the outcome.

"And we wouldn't want to see somebody else go through the same thing that we've gone through."

Deanne at Precious Moments Photography never responded to our requests for answers. But the good news is that the Fugere's did get a disk of their wedding photos.

What they didn't get was a written contract, and they know it was a mistake. In it Heather and Doug say they would have specified a delivery date.

They are considering small claims court.
