California Parks Officials Urging Boaters To Be Careful With Low Water Levels In Drought
FOLSOM LAKE (CBS13) — Bob Fries is loading up his boat after spending the morning out on Folsom Lake. There were few boats out when he was on the lake Thursday, but that won't be the case this weekend.
California State Parks officials say they're concerned recreational boaters won't realize the potential dangers the lower water levels bring.
"Sandbars, rocks, logs like I said—more hazards than usual," said Mike Howard.
Crews have tried to mark most of the hazards that are close to the surface of the lake, but they can't get them all. They're telling boaters to be aware, and swimmers to stay in areas where lifeguards are able to keep an eye on everybody.
All lifeguards are working this weekend at the Folsom Lake campgrounds, which are fully booked through Memorial Day.
