California Nurse Killed In Apparent Las Vegas Road Rage Incident
LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 44-year-old woman has died after being shot in the head in an apparent road-rage attack outside her home in Las Vegas.
Tammy Meyers died after being taken off life support Saturday night at University Medical Center, family members said at a news conference afterward.
The mother of four and former California nurse gave her 14-year-old daughter a driving lesson in a nearby school parking lot and was driving back home when she had a near-collision with another vehicle Thursday night, police said.
After an argument between the drivers, Meyers then drove home and summoned the help of an adult son as her daughter went inside the home.
The suspect vehicle appeared outside the home and Meyers was struck by one round as multiple shots were fired, investigators said.
Her husband, Robert Meyers, said their adult son emerged from the house and fired several shots with a handgun at the fleeing car. He told his father there were three people in the car.
Robert Meyers also said he thinks at least one 9 mm shot by his 23-year-old son hit the fleeing car, and he called for the people involved to surrender to police.
Shortly before the woman's death, Las Vegas police publicly released a sketch of one of the suspects and surveillance video of the suspect vehicle.
The suspect was roughly described as a 6-foot, 180-pound white man in his mid-20s with dirty blond hair in a spiked style. The suspect vehicle was described as a four-door grey or silver sedan with possible bullet holes and damage to the front driver's side of the vehicle.
