Some Sacramento road closures set to begin Friday for California International Marathon
SACRAMENTO – This weekend, athletes will be running from Folsom to Sacramento for the 41st California International Marathon.
The race begins on Sunday at 7 a.m. near the Folsom Dam. This course runs from there to the California State Capitol building.
A total of 11,000 runners are expected to for the race.
While it's a milestone for them, it can mean some detours starting Friday for the rest of us.
The marathon has partnered with the Waze app for live road closure information for race day. The Sacramento Running Association also has a full list of closures and route information on their website.
Closures starting Friday in Sacramento include:
-Capitol Mall between 8th and 9th Streets, closed starting 8 a.m.
-8th and 9th streets between N and L streets, closed starting 2 p.m.
-10th Street between N and L streets, closed starting 6 p.m.
Race weekend kicks off with the race expo, open Friday from noon to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Safe Credit Union Convention Center.
