Cal Fire Battling Growing Wildfire In Butte County, Evacuations Ordered
BANGOR (CBS13) – Firefighters are battling a growing fire in Butte County Wednesday afternoon.
The fire is off of Swedes Flat Road, about three miles north of the town of Bangor.
Cal Fire says the fire has grown to 600 acres as of 6:30 p.m.
CBS13's Nick Janes says at least one structure has burned.
Evacuations have been issued for the following areas: Stoney Oaks Loop, Gold Mountain Road, Stoney Oaks Blvd, Obert Drive and Gaston Booth Drive. A precautionary evacuation notice is in effect for Swedes Flat Road.
An evacuation warning is in place for Swedes Flat Road between Chinese Wall and Rob Mill roads.
A shelter is in place at the Church of the Nazarene at 2238 Monte Vista Ave.
Large animals can be taken to Camelot at 1985 Clark Road, while small animals can be taken to Old County Hospital, 2279 Del Oro and Mono Ave.
A similar fire burned nearly 2,500 acres in August 2013. Five people were injured in that fire, one home burned, and half a dozen outbuildings also burned.
