Café Owner Accused Of Sexual Assault
DAVIS, Calif. (CBS13) -- A restaurant owner has been arrested for allegedly holding one of his employees against her will and sexually assaulting her, authorities said.
The Davis Police Department said 58-year-old Ashot Manukyan attempted to rape a woman inside the Café Mediterranee after the restaurant closed.
The café remains open for business even though its owner is behind bars, and most customers CBS13 spoke with were stunned at the allegations.
"It's very quiet, it feels like home. It's almost like a house you know," said Martha Lopez.
No employees at the café wanted to comment on camera and nobody responded to requests for information at Manukyan's home.
Manukyan is being held on $100,000 bail. Investigators don't believe there are any other victims.
