Buy It And Try It: The Grill Daddy

On the unofficial start of the BBQ season, I'm trying a product that's
supposed to help keep your grill clean. The Grill Daddy Pro claims to
be a revolutionary grill cleaning tool, so let's see if it works.

At the DiGiorgio household, they barbeque a lot. "We use this grill
three times a week at least," said the father of the family.

When you barbeque, you're bound to get tough to clean caked-on grease.
"We get him a lot of stuff for his birthday that's for barbequing,"
said one of his children.

Including a brush that requires quite a bit of elbow grease.

The Grill Daddy Pro claims to be the latest breakthrough in
grill-cleaning technology. It's a brush you fill with water that's
supposed to "steam away baked-on food and grease."

First, we preheat the grill for 10 minutes then we fill the brush with
water. The scraper is supposed to break up really tough areas of food
residue.

He flips the switch on the handle which starts the water. Steam pours
out of the end.

"It appears to be working pretty decently," he said. He then flips it
over to finish up the job with the main brush.

"It's scraped away some of the stuff I usually don't take time to go
after," he said.

He says working with a hot grill is uncomfortable, and after a while,
he's still using elbow grease. But it seems to do the job.

"It's good, but not revolutionary," he said. Is it worth it? "I doubt
I'd buy it myself, but I might welcome it as a gift some day."

I paid $29.99 plus shipping and handling. I bought it online at Bed,
Bath & Beyond's website
