Buy It And Try It: The Bra Baby

Well guys, this weird-looking thing is supposed to keep bras from
breaking down, so lets see if it works.

"The fabric of it gets just wrinkly and doesn't stay formed, so it
makes your boobs look funky," says Robyn Schafer.

She isn't a big fan of that.

"You can see the wrinkles through t-shirts and that's no fun," she
explains.  "It doesn't give it the natural look anymore."

Inside her Citrus Heights garage, I hand her the Bra Baby, which is
designed to protect padded bras in the washing machine.

"It looks like one of those shape things," she says. "You put the
shape through the hole when you teach a baby what shape it is.  That's
what it reminds me of."

We have two identical new bras. One black, one gold.

She's going to wash one in the Bra Baby, and regular wash the other
bra. The Bra Baby has an inner shell and outer shell, so she wraps the
black bra around the inner shell and locks it in.

She drops them both in the wash.

After a cycle, both are put in the dryer.

After one wash, she says the gold bra does have one wrinkle in the
cup.  But no wrinkles for the black bra in the bra baby.

"So I guess we'll continue washing and see what happens after about a
week and a half," she says.

And here we are.

"Do you see the difference?"

She says after three washes, it's quite clear. Let's start with the
black bra used in the Bra Baby.

How did it do? "The black one stayed shaped."

It still has its form. The gold bra, washed outside the bra baby:

"Right here you can see wrinkles, in how it's bending this way," she
says.  "And the same on this side."

And she says it broke down.  So the Bra Baby seems to work, but Robyn
isn't sure she'd use it.

"It just takes a bit more time to wrap it, but it did work, so try it, why not?"

I bought the Bra Baby online.  I bought two and paid $19.95 plus
shipping and handling.
