Buy-It-And-Try-It: Ssscat

If you're tired of your pet jumping up on the table or going into your office a new device is supposed to keep them away. It's called the 'ssscat'.

When you have as many pets as Leilani Vierra, you spend a lot of time keeping them out of places they shouldn't be.

Leilani runs the Placer SPCA. At home, she herself has quite a few cats and dogs she's rescued.

There are only two places Leilani doesn't want her pets.

"My dining room table, where I don't want the cats to be on...so we can have a meal without sharing with them and then I have a room where I have a lot of paper and office work," she says.

But animals don't always stick to the rules. The ssscat is supposed to be an ultimate cat control system. A sensor spots your naughty pet, and sprays them with air.

CBS13 set it up in Leilani's office. A curious kitty walked up and thought about coming in. It was gone just as fast as it came after the ssscat was activated. The same happened when we tested in on a dining room table.

Animal behavior expert Matt Green watched to make sure the pets weren't hurt. He doesn't think the ssscat's harmful.

Leilani likes the ssscat because it doesn't hurt your pet and they'll get a clear message, even if your not home.

"It went off once or twice and they learned their lesson and they probably won't go back to that area," she says.
