Buy-It-And-Try-It: Lens Doctor

At Griffin and Reed Eye Care in Sacramento they help ten thousand people see better every year. A number of clients come in with scratched glasses, hoping for a miracle.

"Scratches on glasses have been the bane of our existence for a very long time," says Dr. Robert Melrose.

Melrose says he's never found a product that actually removes them.

"We've heard of toothpaste, car polish...anything you can imagine, they've tried," he says.

That's until now. Kurtis gave him the amazing Original Lens Doctor Scratch Repair Kit.

The kit says the secret is a space-age polymer that'll repair even the toughest scratches like magic in two steps.

Since Kurtis didn't want to risk damaging someone's glasses, he was supplied with a trio of scratched up old pairs to serve as specimens. Some had fine scratches, some were really scratched up.

First each pair is sprayed with a solution to clean the lenses. Then rinsed and dried.

The solution is then painted across the lenses, left to right, slightly overlapping each stroke.

Kurtis let the three pairs sit for 5-minutes before blow drying them with medium heat. Then he checked out the progress on each pair.

The scratches hadn't changed. On the second pair the lens wasn't as clear as before.

No difference. Exact same scratches, exact same spots. No improvement whatsoever

Dr. Melrose thinks you should save your money and says most high end glasses come with a one year scratch guarantee, or you can pay extra for an anti-scratch coat on any pair.
