Brutal Murder Shocks Neighbors At South Sacramento Apartment Complex
SOUTH SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Neighbors and friends in a South Sacramento neighborhood were shocked to find out a homicide may have happened inside their apartment complex.
Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies found a 60-year-old man they believe was murdered in his apartment, and they're asking the public's help to find whoever is responsible.
Scott Peer was known to his friends as Scooter. He seemed to live alone with his dog Roxie at the complex on 47th Avenue, but not without friends who are now mourning his death.
His dog is now being cared for by a close friend who also lives at the South Sacramento complex. That friend found Peer dead in his apartment on Thursday night after noticing his door was unlocked. He says Peer's throat had been deeply cut.
Deputies say the victim had wounds indicative of an edged weapon.
"There's no evidence of any break ins so it could be someone he knows or at least comfortable with in the residence," said spokesman Tony Turnbull.
It's not the first time the complex for disabled and homeless adults has seen trouble. Neighbors complain about disturbances from outsiders jumping the fence at Mercy Housing's Martin Luther King Jr Village. It's the same complex where 6-year-old Jadianna Larsen went missing before she was later found dead.
