Boy Seriously Hurt In Hit & Run After Giants Game
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A 9-year-old boy is in critical condition after being struck by a car in a crosswalk on his way back to a hotel from a San Francisco Giants game.
A 21-year-old Hayward man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and felony hit-and-run less than an hour after the boy, Ryan White, of Philadelphia, was injured about 12 blocks away from AT&T Park on Thursday night.
San Francisco General Hospital spokeswoman Rachael Kagan said Ryan's family didn't want details about the nature of his injuries made public, but that the youngster's condition was not expected to change Friday.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Andrew Alan Vargas was arrested after Hayward police spotted a damaged truck matching the description witnesses gave of the one that hit Ryan.
A 58-year-old Granite Bay woman also was injured, but not seriously.
