Boy Scouts Of America Executive Committee OKs Ending Ban On Gay Leaders
(CBSSacramento.com) - The Boy Scouts of America is one step closer to allowing its chartered organizations to select gay leaders.
On its website Monday, the organization's executive committee announced it had unanimously adopted a resolution allowing chartered BSA organizations to select leaders "…without regard to sexual orientation…"

The change would respect the right of religious organizations with chartered units to continue to select leaders consistent with their own beliefs.
The National Executive Board will meet to ratify this resolution on May 27.
In 2013, BSA changed its policy to begin accepting openly gay youths. As a result, some churches threatened to drop their sponsorship of Scout units. Roman Catholic and LDS churches maintained their ties.
