Boy Collects Play-Doh For WEAVE
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - When CBS13 saw a YouTube video of Nathaniel Green, we had to meet him.
His karate instructor posted it online. It's all about Nathaniel's quest to get 100 cans of Play-Doh donated for kids in counseling.
He talked to his karate class and kindergarten classes for donations.
But he didn't get 100, Nathaniel wrangled more than a thousand cans of colorful Play-Doh to give to the families at Sacramento-based shelter, WEAVE, Women Escaping A Violent Environment.
"WEAVE helps people when they aren't treated nicely at their homes," Nathaniel explained to CBS13.
And the Play-Doh helps "people express their feelings," he went on to say.
But the Play-Doh wasn't Nathaniel's first plan.
"First I was thinking about donating toys to the food bank, but then when I heard about WEAVE, I felt like donating Play-Doh instead," Nathaniel said.
Gathering the Play-Doh was Nathaniel's community service project for his karate class, reaching a side-goal of collecting at least as much in donations as your height.
