Boy, 14, Accused Of 3-Day Vandalism Spree

LODI, Calif. (CBS13) -- A teen boy has been arrested and accused of launching a three-day vandalism spree in his neighborhood because he was bored, authorities said.

The 14-year-old boy found a can of spray paint in a park and allegedly used it to paint swastikas and pictures of small bombs on more than a half dozen garage doors and cars in one neighborhood, before escalating the destructive nature of the crimes.

Mike Parson said he woke up to find his family's vintage 1955 Chevy truck engulfed in flames in front of his home. It will likely cost thousands of dollars to repair the damage.

"It's an old truck, it's been in the family for 50, 55 years, so its got a lot of sentimental value to us, but not [the suspect], obviously," Parson said.

Police said the teen set another car, a garbage can, and a wood fence on fire as well.

After three days of incidents, police acted on a tip and arrested the suspect for eight counts of felony vandalism and three counts of arson.

The teen is in custody at juvenile hall in Stockton.
