Bomb Squad Checks Out Car After Caller Say It's 'Rigged To Explode'
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Sacramento Sheriff's deputies blocked off a six block area overnight after getting a call reporting that a car in the area had been "rigged to explode".
The Sheriff's department says a woman called them at about 1 a.m. saying a car in the parking lot of a shopping center at Howe Avenue and Arden Way had been rigged to explode by a gang.
When deputies responded, they spotted the car with a blue cord running from the passenger side door to a rear door.
A six block area was blocked off while the bomb squad came out to check the car. Bomb technicians used a robot to search the car and found no explosives. However, there was a can of lighter fluid in the rear door jam.
The car is registered to Loaves and Fishes, a homeless shelter in downtown Sacramento.
Detectives are still investigating and attempting to trace the original call that reported the car. They are also checking to see if the car had been stolen.
