UPDATE: Bomb Scare At Natomas Office Building A Hoax
NATOMAS (CBS13) -- Someone called 911 from a pay phone to say a suspicious device was planted at a Natomas office building, but the "device" turned out to be a bag of chips that had been tampered with, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The bag was found in the men's bathroom of a three-story office building at 160 Promenade Circle, which is near Truxel Road and Interstate 80, at about 2:30 p.m. The bag did have electronics in it but wasn't capable of exploding, according to CHP Officer Liz Dutton.
A bomb squad removed it shortly before 4 p.m.
Built in 2008 and 2009, Gateway Corporate Center consists of two three-story office buildings, each offering 116,918 square feet of office space, according to a real estate listing. The office with the chips bag is a worker's compensation building.
