Cache Creek Rafters Found Safe
YOLO COUNTY (CBS13) – A firefighter/paramedic and one other person who had been reported missing while rafting on Cache Creek Sunday night have been found safe.
The two were found on the water's edge Monday morning at around 7 a.m. just after search crews hit the river this morning.
A Williams firefighter and a woman were on the missing raft. Their friends waited a couple of hours before calling the Yolo County Sheriff's Department around midnight but an overnight search was unsuccessful.
"We brought in a helicopter with thermal imaging," said Yolo County Sheriff's Sgt. Al Williams.
Then this morning, search crews waited for first light to put a rescue raft in the water. Both were considered experienced rafters and the weather was warm overnight, but when last seen, they were not wearing life-jackets.
The missing rafters were found in good shape about 1/2 mile from their original destination. Their raft had been punctured and they had to wait on shore overnight.
The Yolo County Sheriff's Dept. search and rescue team along with a CHP helicopter were involved in the search.
