Best Spoken Word Venues In Sacramento

Traditional, tribal, free verse or pastoral, Sacramento is the perfect place to celebrate the spoken word during National Poetry Month in April. Professionals and amateurs alike can share their love for this creative and expressive form of art at these five Sacramento locales.

The Tule Review is the seminal publication for local poets, and the Sacramento Poetry Center is taking advantage of April's celebration of their craft. This event will include a reading of selections from the just-released Tule Review for the winter of 2012. Guests are also encouraged to participate in open mic.

Luna's Café is a popular spot for spoken word and poetry on Thursday evenings in Sacramento. Guest hosts like the infamous Sho'Nuff will be your guide through the wonders that National Poetry Month has to offer.
