Best Salads In Sacramento

Just because you're into salads doesn't mean you're stuck eating rabbit food. Salads can be more or less healthy, depending on what you add to them. Full of healthy fixings or loaded up with bacon, bleu cheese and thick ranch dressing, there's many different ways to enjoy a delicious salad. Here are a few of our favorite places to go green.

Jack's Urban Eats

4730 Natomas Blvd
Sacramento, CA 95835

Jack's Urban Eats is the kind of place you can count on. They have a large menu with hand carved meats, and sides galore, but what really makes Jack's special is their wide range of huge salads. From a chicken caesar, to a Western BBQ steak salad with hand carved steak, gorgonzola cheese, and topped with fried onion strings, Jack's has got you covered. The portions are large, and you can't possibly leave hungry or broke for that matter, with everything on the menu set at recession proof prices.

Pluto's

1151 Galleria Blvd
Roseville, CA 95678
916-781-3663

Pluto's boasts great food, fast. Fresh ingredients, and any possible combination of salad toppings so that you can stick to that nagging diet without feeling guilty. The setting is cafeteria-style, so you watch them make your food, which alleviates any mistakes, and you can see all of the options to utilize. They have set salads on their menu, but customizing your own is the way to go.

Magpie Caterers

1409 R Street Ste #102
Sacramento, CA
916-452-7594
www.magpiecaterers.com

Sacramento natives Janel Inouye and Ed Roehr teamed up to create a place for locals. All the menu items are locally produced, and created with culinary expertise. For a slightly more edgy salad, Magpie's Salmon Salad Nicoise with wild Coho salmon, potatoes, egg, olives, and green beans makes the cut. The food is above the rest of the pack and the location is also welcoming. The service is friendly, and there's a French bistro feeling to it, without having to travel.

33rd Street Bistro

3301 Folsom Blvd
Sacramento, CA 95816
916-455-2233
www.33rdstreetbistro.com

Chef Pamela Cantu really knows her salads. 33rd Street offers a large selection of salads: from the classics, to the "I didn't know you could do that with a salad." We like the Bistro Gardens salad… fresh baby greens, crumbled Oregon bleu cheese, red wine vinaigrette, and topped with cracked hazelnuts. You'll never want to cheat on this salad with another, promise.

The Big Salad Shop

915 L Street
Sacramento, CA 95814
916-497-0700
No website

Elaine Bennis from Seinfeld would be nothing less than thrilled to find this local jaunt. Located in the heart of the midtown/downtown area, The Big Salad Shop is a hit with state workers, so why shouldn't it be with you? Think of a salad, any salad, yep they have that. The balsamic chicken salad with avocado is the favorite of locals. The prices are just right, and the service is fast and friendly.
