With a touch of green and some luck of the Irish, St. Patrick's Day partiers can avoid the pinch at some of Sacramento's hot spots. Whether you're looking to dig in to some Irish dishes, imbibe in an Irish brew, hang out in a Irish haunt, cut it up in a Celtic costume or blow it out with a bagpiper, there is an assortment of St. Patty's merrymaking to take part in. Here are some of Sacramento's best bets for Irish bashes.

This annual St. Patrick's Day event features, Irish and Highland dancers, historic re-enactors, pipe and drum bands, Celtic costumes, bagpipers, costumed marchers and a history of more than 15,000 parade watchers. The St. Patty's paraders will get the green light to begin at the intersection of 2nd and L St. in Old Sacramento. There are nearly a dozen and half bars, pubs and lounges along the streets of Old Sacramento for some lucky libations before, during or after the parade.
8th Annual Fleet Feet Shamrock'n Half Marathon & Killian's Irish Red Post Race Party

The Shamrock'n event launches its half marathon with a great course, rockin' bands and an on-field finish at Raley Field. Next, the rockin' run turns the post-race party on with a Killian's Occasion. One complimentary Killian's Irish Red to all racers of legal age and live entertainment will rock the Shamrock'n racers. Last year 6,500 people participated and crowds gathered at spectator stations to watch the course and listen to 14 live bands along the route.

While the inspiration from Streets of London comes from Britain, they know how to put on a party for St. Patty's day. Adding on to its party place, an additional satellite bar will be set up in the outside patio area. Known for their Jell-O shots, Streets of London will be serving up traditional Irish plates of corned beef and cabbage and shepherd's pie can be ordered and washed down with holiday drink specials.

The Rubicon Brewing Company invites St. Patrick's Day patrons to come for the beer and stay for the food; or the other way around. Aside from the regular menu offerings the Rubicon Brewers will be cooking up an Irish meal of corned beef and cabbage and as always the Irish Red Ale, a Rubicon cult favorite will be flowing. Its full beer menu that includes their gold medal award winner India Pale Ale will be available to cater to all tastes.
