Infant Swimming Resource is a national organization committed to preventing child drowning. Certified instructors teach a "Self-Rescue" curriculum including floating skills to children ages 6 months to 6 years old. Instruction is daily for 10 min a day during an initial learning period of four to six weeks. After that, students are encouraged to return for refresher classes.

Check out the spring swim clinics for summer- league swimmers that want to keep their stroke technique in the off-season. Underwater video is available for stroke analysis. The facility also offers lap swim, water aerobics, and even log rolling.

Steve Wallen Swim School is a year-round indoor pool heated to 90 degrees for beginners. Wallen is a Chico State champion and has been teaching area kids how to swim for more than 20 years. Classes are available either one day per week or two days per week. The school also offers classes for children with special needs, swim clinics, stroke technique, and lap swim.

Three-time Olympic gold medal winner Debbie Meyer has run the school since 1993. There are two pools onsite, one indoor and one outdoor heated from 88 to 92 degrees. Got a squirmy little one? There's an option of 15-min lessons for 12 classes. You must register in person at the school. Meyer also offers adaptive and competitive instruction as well as instruction for tri-athletes.
