Best Fireworks In Sacramento

Summer days in the capital city can mean relaxing by the pool, cruising farmer's markets for fresh peaches and watermelon, sipping craft beers with friends at midtown cafes and swimming, skiing, fishing and boating on local waterways. But, summer afternoons and evenings are prime time for adults and families, too, and just sitting around the house can be less than a thrill. So celebrate your independence by attending these entertaining fireworks displays in the Sacramento region.

What began as a small neighborhood party more than 30 years ago has become one of the area's largest and best Independence Day extravaganzas. The two-day event is held along the American River in Hagan Park, and more than 20,000 people are expected to join the fun. There will be plenty of music, a carnival, beer garden, food, exhibits, a BMX show, and a parade, and the younger family members will love the kid's zone. An incredible fireworks show will cap off both evenings.

Bars, restaurants and pubs in the historic state park of Old Sacramento will be commemorating the holiday one day early this year, with specials on favorite American beers. Patrons will have a great view of fireworks around 9:30 p.m., launched from Raley Field following the River Cats game. Red White & Brews is not a formal or family-oriented event, simply a chance to enjoy good deals on local, craft and national beers from across the country. Chris McSwain of the Old Sac Business Association says there are 25 different locations that serve beer in the park, allowing guests to "create their own pub crawl for a good, old fashioned American time."

For the third year, Raley Field is welcoming the public to an old-fashioned Independence Day block party while the River Cats are out of town. The event is family-friendly, with a special kid's area full of interactive games, a bounce house and even an inflatable obstacle course. Live music and tempting treats from food trucks will keep everyone happy until the main event, the fireworks. Bring a blanket, sit back and be star-struck by the show, which is coordinated to highlight everyone's favorite patriotic songs.

Although the fireworks do not start until later in the week, the rodeo kicks off on July 1 with an old-fashioned cattle drive down Sutter St. Bucking bulls and broncos, handsome cowboys, roping and riding events, live music, motocross, rodeo clowns and plenty of other activities keep things jumping. An American flag will arrive by parachute, and there are horse drill team performances, food, shopping and the crowning of the rodeo queen.  A fantastic firework show will commence at dark on each night.

After a parade and pancake breakfast earlier in the day, the Independence Day party kicks off at 7 p.m. with fun for the whole family. There will be music, inflatables, food, crafts and face painting. Bring along lawn chairs, blankets and shade umbrellas to stake out your spot. Fireworks start once he sun sets, around 9:30 p.m. The organizer ask that no personal fireworks or alcohol be brought.
