Bay Area Rapper 'The Jacka' Shot And Killed In Oakland
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - A Bay Area rapper was shot dead on the east end of Oakland but police have yet to make an arrest.
KPIX reports that 37-year-old Dominic Newton, a rapper who went by the stage name "The Jacka," was shot and killed at 8:15 p.m. Monday in East Oakland.
Oakland police are investigating but had not identified any suspects or made any arrests Tuesday morning.
Newton is originally from Pittsburg and began his rap career in the late 1990s as a member of Mob Figaz. He then launched a solo rap career in 2001.
The killing was the 11th in the city of 400,000 so far this year.
