BART Releases Video Of Deadly Shooting
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Officials have released surveillance video of the fatal shooting by transit officers earlier this month at a Bay Area Rapid Transit Station.
The video released Thursday comes after 45-year-old Charles Hill was slain July 3 by BART officers at the Civic Center/UN Plaza station in San Francisco.
Hill was shot in the torso by BART officers who were responding to a report of what was termed a "wobbly drunk." The officers say he came at them with a knife.
The video shows two BART officers getting off a train and one of them drawing his gun and firing.
The video released does not show Hill, but officials say an object seen in the video was a knife thrown by Hill.
The transit agency has been battling an image problem after a white officer fatally shot an unarmed black passenger on New Year's Day 2009 at a station in Oakland.
