Bags Of Meth Ingredients Found During Traffic Stop
MODESTO (CBS13) ― A routine traffic stop gave Modesto authorities a chance to seize a huge stash of drugs investigators believe were intended to be used to cook methamphetamine.
Anastacio Maldonado, 49, was pulled over in Modesto for talking on the cell phone behind the wheel and confessed to having a Vicodin in his pocket that didn't belong to him, according to the Modesto Police Department.
When officers searched for more, they found 10,000 pseudoephedrine pills, one of the key ingredients in making meth.
"They found several plastic grocery bags filled with pills," said Modesto Police Sgt. Rick Armendariz.
Officers believe Maldonado, a Los Angeles County resident, may have been on drugs while driving to Northern California.
The pills have an estimated street value of more than $7,500.
Detectives are investigating how he acquired all the pills.
