Man, 23, Found Fatally Shot Outside South Sacramento Mobile Home Park
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies are investigating why a man was shot and killed outside a south Sacramento mobile home park early Wednesday morning.
Deputies say a passerby saw the victim laying in the roadway on St. Andre Lane, just outside of the Camellia Village Mobile Home Park.
When California Highway Patrol and Sacramento Metro Fire arrived, they found a 23-year-old man with a gunshot wound in the upper torso. The man was taken to the hospital, but was soon pronounced dead.
Neighbors at the mobile home park are in disbelief.
"I don't understand who would want to hurt him like that," Deborah Verrett said.
Verrett says she knew the man.
"He's very friendly and always one that wants to help you," Verrett said.
Deputies say the victim lived at the mobile home park. They believe he was walking to a nearby store when someone shot him in the chest.
"He's just such a good person and a good kid," Verrett said. "Never has been in trouble with the law."
According to Sacramento Sheriff's Spokesperson Tony Turnbull, investigators do not have a suspect description or motive for the shooting at this time.
