Audio: The Grant Napear Show - August 23, 2011
On Tuesday's show Grant took calls regarding the fighting and violence at the 49ers and Raiders preseason game. Grant also discussed Terrelle Pryor's future in the NFL, as well as Frank Gore and Chris Johnson's contract situations. Along with this, Grant interviewed J.R. Hildebrand, Reggie Rivers, Don Criqui, and Tim Brown.
Indycar driver J.R. Hildebrand joined Grant on today's show. J.R. talked about what it's like to be back home in his native Northern California, as well as his mentality following his crash during the Indy 500. He also talked about his beloved San Francisco Giants, as well as the 49ers and possibly taking new Head Coach Jim Harbaugh on a ride around Infineon.
Denver Broncos preseason television color analyst Reggie Rivers joined Grant as part of the ongoing NFL Preview. Reggie and Grant covered the Broncos' quarterback situation. Reggie also gave Grant the 3 biggest question marks for Denver this season, and gave his BOLD prediction for where the Broncos will wind up in the win/loss column.
CBS broadcaster and New England Patriots preseason television announcer Don Criqui continued the NFL Preview talking about the Patriots. Don talked about Tom Brady and his drive to win. Tom Brady's cast of "misfits" was another topic, and how the Patriots make it work with some generally troubled players. Finally, Don touched on the rest of the AFC East and the Patriots Super Bowl chances for the upcoming season.
Oakland Raider great Tim Brown joined the show today. Brown talked about fan violence at football games, and delivered a message to fans about stopping violence in the stands. He also gave a message to high school athletes being recruited by colleges. Finally, Grant and Tim wrapped up with a quick overview of the Raiders.
Grant wrapped up the day discussing the Carolina Panthers with their color commentator Jim Szoke. Szoke discussed Steve Smith, along with Cam Newton and Jimmy Clausen's quarterback battle. Jim also talked about competing in a very tough NFC South, especially with a defense that has digressed despite signing defensive end Charles Johnson.
