Audio: The Don Geronimo Show - July 1, 2011

Don announces at the top of the show that since this is the last show before the 4th of July, and this is the first time in ages that he's worked on a day this close to the holiday. Things are going to be a little bit different. For starters, all phone calls will go unscreened! Don starts by taking dozens of unscreened calls in the first hour.

After a little "Dirty Jay Leno," Don tells us about a town in Germany that Does re enactments of the U.S. Civil War, then goes to his favorite 4th of July/summer time band, The Beach Boys. Throughout the show, we get to hear rare Beach Boys recording sessions and outtakes which really give us an idea of how brilliant Brian Wilson is. Don tells us a few Beach Boy stories, like the time he got to introduce them to 150,000 fans in 1985, and the time he actually got to meet the genius Brian Wilson. Don then tells us about a spectator at the Casey Anthony trial who flipped off one of the lawyers, and Consumer Reports' "Best Fast Food Restaurants of 2011." Don then goes back to more rare Beach Boys tapes, including the making of "God Only Knows," then throws in a wacky Beatles' tape.

Don and Dave then call Canada and play a game from the old Don and Mike days called "How About That, Isn't That Something?" We then get to hear a clip of a farting donkey, and Glenn Beck's final show. Don then takes a caller 100, and Drew finishes off the day with a happy ending.
