SACRAMENTO COUNTY – Detectives say a pair of suspects caught trying to steal an ATM are possibly linked to other similar incidents in the Sacramento area.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office says, just after 4 a.m. Sunday, deputies got a burglary alarm from the Bank of America near Gold Country Boulevard and Coloma Road. Some deputies were already in the area and quickly spotted an SUV leaving the area with its lights off.

Deputies tried to pull the suspicious vehicle over but say the suspects wouldn't yield. A short chase followed, with the suspects eventually hitting a curb that took their SUV out.

Two people got out and ran from the SUV, but deputies eventually arrested them. The pair have been identified as 38-year-old Jose Rincon and his 36-year-old brother Juan.

As deputies discovered back at the bank, the ATM had been pulled out by someone who had hooked it with chains. It's unclear if the machine was accessed.

Deputies say they also found a loaded and unregistered handgun in the floorboard of the suspects' SUV.

Detectives say there have been a number of similar unreported and unsolved incidents in the same area recently, prompting them to suspect that the pair may allegedly be involved. Further investigation is still needed, however, and the sheriff's office is urging people with more information to contact them.

The Rincons have been booked into Sacramento County Jail and are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
