Calif. Assemblyman Charged With DUI
SACRAMENTO (AP) -- A San Diego County legislator allegedly had a blood-alcohol level of nearly twice the legal limit when he was arrested for driving under the influence in Sacramento.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports Thursday that Assemblyman Martin Garrick tested at .15 percent or more after being pulled over by the California Highway Patrol. That's according to a complaint by the Sacramento County District Attorney's office.
The legal limit is .08 percent.
Authorities said the Republican from Solana Beach was pulled over by officers on bicycle patrol on June 15 after driving a state-issued vehicle at 45 mph in a 25 mph zone near the Capitol and running a stop sign.
Garrick has apologized and vowed never to drink and drive again. He's set to be arraigned Aug. 15.
