Teenage student arrested after "vague threat" made toward Del Oro High staff member, deputies say
PLACER COUNTY – A teenager has been arrested after an investigation into threats made toward a staff member at a Placer County school earlier this week, deputies said Thursday.
The Placer Union High School District said it became aware of a potential threat on Tuesday and notified the sheriff's office to investigate the "source of an anonymous text threat."
On Wednesday morning, the sheriff's office said it was aware of a "vague threat" made toward a staff member at Del Oro High School. Deputies then increased their presence at the school on Wednesday.
By Thursday, the sheriff's office said they arrested a 16-year-old on Thursday, saying the threat was traced back to a teenage student.
"We want to emphasize that all school threats are taken seriously. They will be investigated thoroughly, and those responsible will face the consequences," the Placer County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.
