Armed Robbery Suspects Arrested On I-80
AUBURN, Calif. (CBS13) -- Three suspects in the armed robbery of a Placer County home were arrested while fleeing on Interstate 80 Thursday afternoon, according to authorities.
The Placer County Sheriff's Department said deputies spotted 20-year-old Robin Oscar Tipton of Sacramento, 23-year-old David Eugene Thomas of Sacramento, and 23-year-old Duane Edward Patton of Elk Grove driving west near Douglas Boulevard just a few minutes after residents reported that three armed men broke into their home around 3:00 p.m.
The victims reported that the men, one of whom they knew, broke into their home on Dry Creek Road and stole marijuana and other property.
The three suspects were pulled over and taken into custody without incident, authorities said. Investigators said they found stolen property and a handgun that matches the description of the firearm used in the robbery.
All three suspects are facing charges of robbery and false imprisonment. Patton is being held on $100,000 bail; Tipton and Thomas are being held without bail on parole holds.
