North Highlands Standoff Ends; Suspect At Large
NORTH HIGHLANDS, Calif. (CBS13) – Police ended the standoff near a North Highlands duplex after searching a residence for an armed robbery suspect who is still on the loose.
The Twin Rivers Police Department broke down the perimeter near the intersection of Harrison Street and Madison Avenue after officers determined the armed robber was not inside one half of a duplex Friday afternoon.
The residents of the other half of the duplex did not consent to a search by officers.
A witness reported that the fleeing armed robber had taken shelter inside the residence shortly after holding up a recycling business at gunpoint at about 2:00 p.m.
Authorities locked down Madison Elementary School while they searched the area but lifted the order after clearing the scene just before 6:00 p.m.
The suspect is still at large and authorities are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact the Twin Rivers Police Department.
