Arden Fair Mall Shooting, Leaves Cars Damaged, Nobody Injured
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Shots fired outside the Arden Fair mall hit cars, but thankfully not people. The search is still on tonight for the suspects.
The shooting happened just before 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the parking garage near Macy's.
"It's a bit frightening, especially being with the loved ones I'm with, how close we came to that."
That's how dozens felt today after at least five shots were fired at the Arden Fair mall parking deck.
"We came out and were like, 'Are we in the wrong place?' I didn't know what to think."
Police say two men were talking trash in the mall to two other men. The fight spilled into the parking lot and one of the men pulled out a handgun and started firing.
No one was hit, and police say the suspects sped off in a white car. Police tracked it down to a South Sacramento home, but police haven't made any arrests yet.
Shoppers say things could have been much worse with such a busy summer scene.
"I'm glad we didn't see it, because it is literally in the path of where we would have to walk to get back to our car."
The cars of at least two shoppers were hit by stray bullets. One woman says she's happy she wasn't hurt, but is pretty mad her Honda took one in the back.
"I'm pissed off that my car got hit, but like I said, this stuff happens."
