Apple Rejects 'Cecil The Lion' Revenge Game
CUPERTINO, Calif. (CBS Sacramento) - The hunter will not become the hunted, according to Apple.
It has rejected a game that features Cecil the Lion and other wildlife getting revenge against poachers.
Called "Cecil's Revenge," the game is loosely based on the classic arcade game "Asteroids." But instead of a spaceship shooting rocks, Cecil and his buddies are the ship, and hunters and poachers are the asteroids.
Cecil was the name of the lion that was lured from its protected enclosure in Zimbabwe and shot by a Minnesota Dentist in July.
The creators tell TMZ Apple cited a rule that iOS games cannot target a specific race, culture, government or any other real group.
Apple tells TMZ it nixed the game because it was based on "real events."
However, anyone with an itch to play the game can get it on Android systems, since Google has approved the app, which is free.
