Antelope Woman Accused Of Pretending To Be Doctor, Treating Patients
ANTELOPE (CBS13) — An Antelope woman is accused of pretending to be a doctor and treating patients, and it's not the first time this has happened.
CBS13 found Yuliya Priymak at her apartment with little to tell her about her arrest.
Records from that arrest say officers handcuffed Priymak at an insurance agency after meeting with an undercover detective who posed as a patient.
That detective said she diagnosed an illness during that meeting.
When CBS13 stopped by the office, workers told us they didn't know who the alleged phony doctor was. But when we called a number listed to the same business, Priymak wasn't in, and only comes in for appointments with patients.
"There are some people that will prey on immigrant populations, underserved populations, whether they are farm workers, Russian immigrants, Hmong," said Russ Heimerich with the Department of Consumer Affairs.
According to authorities with the Medical Board of California, Priymak was targeting Russian and Ukranian immigrants.
Online records show Priymak was at one point running something called MedX Express Diagnostic, which was listed for some time to an office building in Citrus Heights. But no one knew of her.
State records show this may not have been her first time. The Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians fined a woman with the same name in 2009 for nursing without a license.
"You don't want to put your life in the hands of somebody who is pretending to play a doctor, you want somebody who is a physician," Heimerich said.
Priymak denies the accusations.
