Antelope Teen Set-Up By Friend To Be Robbed
ANTELOPE (CBS13) – The search is on for two suspects in the Sacramento area who deputies say tried to hit them with their car after kidnapping and carjacking a teen.
The teen, who only wanted to be identified as Greg, says it was the most traumatizing moment of his life – and he has the scratches to prove it.
Just hours ago, Greg says he was face to face with two men who tried to rob him.
"Right then and there, I knew it was a set-up," Greg said.
He says he wanted to buy an Xbox One from a friend and asked him to come over.
Instead, Greg says, two men he had never met showed up at his 4100 block of Strathmore Way residence early Saturday morning and tried to rob him on the spot.
But Greg didn't have any cash on him. His mother had given him a piece of advice: check out the gaming system before giving anyone money.
"I had two guns drawn to my head," Greg said.
That's when he says the men forced him into his mother's car at gunpoint and ordered him to take them to an ATM to withdraw money.
Before could leave, Greg says his mom stepped into the garage.
"So I'm like, 'Mom, go back in the house, we're going to the store real quick.'"
The trio took off, backing into a neighbor's fence. But they had no idea a neighbor saw something suspicious and called 9-1-1 minutes before.
Two Sacramento sheriff's deputies say they spotted the suspects in the car and opened fire when the driver came toward them.
Greg says he was just trying to stay alive.
"When I ducked I also unlocked the door because I knew that distracted them."
Greg escaped the car and ran toward safety.
"I had my hands up while running," Greg said. "I told [the deputies], 'I'm the victim, don't shoot me.'"
The suspects soon crashed and took off on foot. Greg believes if it wasn't for his neighbor, he may not be alive right now.
The sheriff's department is still trying to track down the two suspects. They have not given a suspect description.
