Annual Festival Draws Bacon Lovers To Midtown Restaurants
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Bacon lovers are in hog heaven pigging out on pork during midtown Sacramento's annual Bacon Fest.
All that grease on the grill is cooking up business for the local economy.
There is bacon in your glass and bacon on your plate. Bacon Fest in midtown Sacramento was serving the crispy goodness up at The Golden Bear Sunday.
"Always good people and great food, it's wonderful," said one patron.
Business owners are bringing home the bacon too.
"In general, it brings new patrons and new traffic to the central city as a whole, so I think that's great," said Golden Bear owner Kimio Bazett.
This event, along with others like Cocktail Week and Beer Week, are helping put midtown on the map and helping boost business when fewer people are out spending money.
"It seems busier than it usually is. When there's events like this, there's usually more people out," said customer Lars Wachney.
They are embracing what some call the hub of Sacramento.
"I'm just passionate about good food and supporting Sacramento," said one bacon lover. "It's one of the best culinary regions in the United States."
For the regulars in this neighborhood, being bombarded with bacon just made it even better.
"The Bacon Fest was an added bonus. I'm a big fan of bacon," said Wachney.
The business owners agree; the bonus bacon on the menu is all good.
"Exposure, positive exposure at that; it's a great place to live, eat, work, play and do business. I couldn't imagine being anywhere else," said Bazett.
Other restaurants taking part in Bacon Fest include Magpie Market Cafe and Luigi's Slice Fungarden.
