Andrew Baggarly Breaks Down Matt Cain's $127.5M Deal
Andrew Baggarly with CSN Bay area joins to talk Giants baseball as spring training has come to a close, and we now have entered the opening week of the MLB season.
"I think there could have been a lot of things that could have gone wrong, but Posey, (Buster Posey) looks good. He has been better then expected this spring." Baggarly said while sharing his thoughts on the Giants spring training performance.
With the big news that the Giants and Matt Cain agree to a six-year, 127.5M deal, Giants fans have a lot to be optimistic about. Baggarly sharing his thoughts on the deal said, "This was important for the Giants ownership up and down. It is always risky to go after a pitcher for a long term contract." He went on to say, " It's a good deal, a fair deal, I don't think fans in SF have anything bad to say about Matt Cain." When asked about San Francisco Giant Aubrey Huff, as he is coming off a bad year and a slow spring Baggarly said.
"I think this year is very important. They are not going to sit and watch him hit ground balls to the 2nd basemen." As we enter the new season the expectations for the Giants are high, as they missed the playoff's last year, but the question remains; are they as good as everyone thinks they are going to be? "They are good enough to contend. I think with the 2nd wildcard it will be pretty disappointing if they don't at least get one of those."
