Man convicted in 2022 Davis I-80 shooting sentenced to 228 years-to-life in prison
DAVIS – An Elk Grove man convicted of shooting at drivers on Interstate 80 in Davis has been given a 228 years-to-life in prison sentence, the district attorney's office announced Monday.
Andre Chevill Wilson was charged in the Feb. 10, 2022 incident on the westbound I-80 offramp at Mace Boulevard.
That day, prosecutors said Wilson used two guns – including one illegally modified to be fully automatic – to shoot at two other drivers who were trying to exit at Mace Boulevard. Wilson then crashed, prompting a two-hour search that eventually found him about 100 yards away from the wreck.
Officers said Wilson had a Glock handgun, the weapon modified to be fully automatic, and an AR-15 rifle.
Prosecutors noted that Wilson already had four other prior strike convictions out of Alameda County.
Earlier in 2024, the Yolo County District Attorney's Office announced that Wilson had been convicted on a slew of counts, including attempted murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and weapons charges.
On Monday, the DA's office revealed that Wilson had been given four indeterminate life in prison sentences – along with an 80-year term. In total, Wilson will be serving 228 years to life in prison.
