American Fire Fully Contained After Burning Nearly 30K Acres
FORESTHILL (CBS13) - After burning nearly 30,000 acres over the past three weeks, the American Fire is now 100 percent contained.
More than 800 firefighters are at the scene of the fire in Tahoe National Forest and will continue to mop-up flaring up hot spots.

Although the fire is fully contained, officials say area residents and tourists will continue to see smoke in the surrounding areas for some time. With the Labor Day weekend ahead, crews urge visitors to obey established closures to avoid dangers created by the fire.
Mosquito Ridge Road was reopened Friday morning. However, Robinson Flat Campground and Duncan Peak Lookout remain closed, as well as Foresthill Road from Humbug Canyon Road to Robinson Flat Campground.
French Meadow Reservoir and access to the Oxbow Middle Fork American Rafting Launch remain open.
