Amber Alert Cancelled; Kids Weren't Kidnapped
STOCKTON, Calif. (CBS13) -- Authorities have canceled a statewide Amber Alert after learning the children were never kidnapped.
The Stockton Police Department said a 3-year-old boy and 6-year-old girl were reported missing by their father, 29-year-old Rockelle Moore, who told investigators the children were in the backseat of a vehicle that was carjacked Saturday afternoon.
The mother of the children heard about the reported abduction and called authorities to tell them the children were with her the entire time.
The motive for the alleged fabrication is not known and both Moore and a female friend who allegedly participated in the lie could face multiple felony charges.
