UPDATE: Amber Alert Canceled For 5-Year-old Boy

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A statewide Amber Alert has has been canceled after a 5-year-old boy was found safe on Friday afternoon.

The alert went out after the boy's father, Stanley Smith-Dixon, allegedly abducted him in San Jacinto. Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Joe Borjas says little Domenic Smith and his father were spotted by a merchant in Idyllwild on Friday, who had seen the Amber Alert issued for the child. Smith-Dixon was arrested.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department said in a press release Friday that little Domenic Smith was taken from the residence of a child-care provider late Thursday.

The Sheriff's Department statement said the father does not have custodial rights to the child, and the mother had also obtained a restraining order against .

Authorities say there's an active felony warrant for Smith-Dixon for assault with a deadly weapon and he should be considered armed and dangerous.
