Mother Surrenders With 2 Missing Kids
FAIRFIELD, Calif. (CBS13) -- The mother accused of kidnapping her two children surrendered herself and the kids safely to a guard at Travis Air Force Base, authorities said.
The Solano County Sheriff's Department said 40-year-old Elmeran Stewart brought the two children to the main gate of the military base at about 8:00 p.m. Saturday night, more than 24 hours after she was last seen taking them to a supermarket.
Police issued an Amber Alert for 5-year-old Kailey Stewart and 10-year-old Hayden Stewart after uncovering indications that Elmeran may have been researching ways to hurt the children.
Investigators have not released details on why the three went missing in the first place.
