Alligator Found After Nevada County Domestic Violence Complaint
GRASS VALLEY (CBS13) — Nevada County Sheriff's Deputies responding to a domestic violence call were greeted by a 5-foot alligator on Thursday.
Its owner Joshua Kerley is now on in jail on a number of charges, including failing to have a permit for the gator. It's now being cared for at Wild Things after investigators say Kerley kept it in a terrible situation.
They believe he had the gator for about five to six years in a kiddie pool in his garage.
Nevada County deputies may never have found the gator if Kerley's fiancee didn't call 911 and tell deputies he'd used drugs and became violent with her.
Inside the home, deputies say they also found ammo and eight weapons, including a small machine gun, rifles and a shotgun.
He faces charges including child endangerment and importing the gator illegally from Oregon.
