9 Arrested In 3-County Sweep Of Suspected Car Thieves
YUBA COUNTY (CBS13) — Nine people have been arrested in a crackdown in three local counties where investigators say they were stealing cars and much more.
In Butte, Sutter and Yuba counties, investigators recently noticed a spike in stolen cars—something the attribute as either a way to get drug money, or commit other crimes.
Officers got together and launched a three-day crackdown, hitting 53 homes and making nine arrests. They found 18 firearms, five stolen vehicles, six Harley Davidson motorcycles and methamphetamine.
"The meth, the 159 grams that the captain mentioned, have a street value of over $6,000," said Martin Horan with the Yuba-Sutter Narcotics Task Force.
They also found a chop shop where thieves reportedly were tearing apart stolen cars and selling the parts on the black market.
